Metra is proud to present it’s Second Annual Metra Safety Essay Contest. The contest is the latest piece in our ongoing effort to engage students in lifesaving railroad safety practices. Participants are asked to explain in 300 words or less how you "Make the Right Choice" to be safe around trains and railroad tracks and what others can do to also make the right choice to be safe. Please explore the links below to find a complete listing of contest rules and guidelines and to learn how to submit your contest entry through this site. One winner will be selected from each grade group, Elementary School (grades K-4), Middle School (grades 5-8) and High School (grades 9-12). Each winner will receive a Notebook Computer. Winning entries will be featured on the Metra Contest Web site, on promotional safety materials and read at an upcoming Metra Board of Director’s meeting. Winning entries will be selected by community leaders and Metra representatives and contestants will be notified next spring.
