Metra is proud to present it’s Annual Metra Safety Essay Contest. The contest is part of our ongoing effort to engage students in lifesaving railroad safety practices. Participants are asked to explain in 300 words or less how you "Lead the Way" to promote safe behaviors near trains and railroad tracks.

Please explore the links below to find a complete listing of contest rules and guidelines and to learn how to submit your contest entry through this site. One winner will be selected from each grade group, Elementary School (grades K-4), Middle School (grades 5-8) and High School (grades 9-12). Each winner will receive an iPad.

Winning entries will be featured on the Metra Contest website and the Metra Safety Calendar. Winning entries will be selected by community leaders and Metra representatives and contestants will be notified next summer.
